March was a fun month! Concert-wise, I went to two: a brief trip down to San Diego to see Turnpike Troubadours & Chris Stapleton and on 3/17, I saw The Walker Roaders with my friend Patricia at the Guild. I already wrote about the San Diego trip and the Guild so was awesome. It wasn’t as crowded as I expected it to be. Maybe the West Coast is not as “Everyone’s Irish on St Patrick’s Day” as the East Coast is? Also, to be fair, it was a Sunday night and kind of rainy. But I am so glad I went. The group was so talented and has quite the Irish-rock-punk pedigree with a member each from the Pogues, Flogging Molly, and Dropkick Murphies. Also, typing dropkick makes me want to use that word more often in my day-to-day life. “I just want to dropkick that moron.” (Moron is another good word, thanks Fauchi!) But yes, great concert. My St. Patrick’s day partying was very tame this year compared to last (thank goodness) as it was a work night, but the music was excellent and now I’m on a bit of a Celtic rock kick.
Party-wise, there was a White party hosted at Canteen by someone at our apartment complex. We bought tickets on Eventbrite and had a really great time. The food was amazing and there was really great company and mingling. I met people who had been at the Game Developers Conference, so it was interesting to hear about a world with which I am completely unfamiliar!

Work-wise, it was a good month. I did my first cochlear implant at UCSF, which is definitely a milestone. I’ve done over 50 in the past few years, but it’s a slightly high profile case and I’m glad the first one is done. I have a few coming up at the VA and hopefully, more to follow at the main UCSF sites. The Navy Reserves was fun this month because I drilled at Alameda and saw people that I drilled with when I initially entered the Reserves so that was nice. We went out for a beer after Sunday drill at Faction brewing in Alameda. The view is amazing and inside, they have the dog grooming mobile from Dumb and Dumber! I sent the picture to my college friend since she was the master of the “SNL stars in 90s movie” ouvre and she was very impressed/unsure if that was really the original. Maybe, yes?!

We took the train to Paso Robles, drank some wine, fed some llamas, and roadtripped back to the Bay Area with my in-laws!

This past weekend, we went out with friends to the Socially Inept TechRoast show. It was funny although the pacing a little uneven. Since most of it is roasting people (who volunteer!?!?!) from the audience, there are definitely some studs and some duds, comedically speaking. Beforehand, we went to Luna’s Mexican Kitchen which is delicious. I will definitely go back there!

Yesterday, we hiked around Lands End stopping first in the Legion of Honor for a quick museum tour and a bathroom break. The marble inlay table was amazing and some of the French decor was stunning.

The hike was great with beautiful views. Afterwards, we went to Cinderella Bakery and Cafe (Russian food), followed by a stop in Noe Valley. So yes, a great weekend and a great month. And now, 2024 is 1/4 over. OMG.
Do you have a membership at the museum? I love that museum, and the views are my idea of heaven, with the beautiful trees and the bridge and the water and sky and all…so so beautiful. I happened upon it once when I was hanging out in San Francisco solo and just fell in love with it. I remember giving an old woman a ride back to her house, and getting scolded by my friend for picking up strangers. I wonder if she was older then than I am now? Hmmm.
Sounds like you had a great time! We went to Paso Robles in September, my first time there. It’s pretty!
Not members, but I really like the museum. I like the deYoung a little better, but both are awesome.
