March was a month of birthdays and celebrations. One of our longtime friends in the Bay Area had his surprise 45th birthday on 3/15. We celebrated at The Beehive, which is a cool cocktail bar in the Mission. SMS and I took public transport in and it’s a pretty remarkable Bougification that occurs along Mission St from the Mission BART station then South a few blocks. As SMS said, the storefronts went from pawn shops to high-end chocolate shops.

We were a little early, so we waited in a park. Our friends tend to be late to things, but we didn’t want to risk ruining the surprise. When we went inside, we still waited for awhile but it was fun to see all of their friends who we’ve met over the years.

On St Patrick’s Day, my work bestie and I went out for an afternoon pint after a somewhat short OR day. We were working at the same site, which is always a treat!

We went to an apartment BBQ to celebrate a neighbor’s birthday. Beth was there too- she has a pass, she’s practically a neighbor!

SMS spent an afternoon walking through the Panhandle and Golden Gate Park. I thought this sign outside the playground was hilarious- no fun for adults and/or no pervs! But I did take a picture of the little monument commemorating the site as the first public playground in the U.S!

SMS and I went for a hike in the Coal Mine Ridge Nature Preserve. It’s a much bigger park than I thought- our hike was about 4 miles which I thought was the entire park but there are actually ~37 miles of trails. Fortunately, we figured this out before we went on our hike!

Beth hosted a chili lunch for friends- it was delicious. Always accept an invite for chili or BBQ from a Texan friend!
It looks like you had a fun month.
