Bus from Chamonix to Lyon: Trip to France 25/28

Clouds parted just before I left

Today was a transport day back to Lyon as I get ready for the last bit of my vacation. I can/cannot believe this trip is almost over. On one hand, I’m ready to get back since I like my everyday life and I’m missing SMS. On the other hand, while I’ve done so much in France, there is still so much to see! It is amazing how much there is to see in the world. In addition, I feel so lucky and privileged to be able to enjoy life in this way.

I woke up in Chamonix, not sore from my hike yesterday. Win! I had breakfast at the hotel and made my way to the bus stop after enjoying the morning on my hotel room balcony. The view wasn’t as spectacular as prior due to low-level clouds, but it just reinforced to me how great the weather was yesterday!

Between checkout and the bus departure time, I wandered the village a bit. I bought the postcard stamps that smell like croissants. Scratch and sniff- such an awesome idea. I also bought a sandwich for the road from another winner of a village boulangerie.

The bus ride was uneventful. I had an assigned seat mate on the two legs, but was able to move to my own seat after the bus left the stop. This was great to have the room.

The famous building/mural

I arrived in Lyon around 4:30 and went to my hotel on the other side of the bridge from the Old Town. I took public transport there, which was a win. The hotel is half a block up from the famous mural of Lyonaise citizens. So, I snapped a few pictures.

Staircase in my hotel- old and atmospheric!

I went upstairs and honestly, I was a bit pooped. I decided to stay in and recharge that evening. I had a food for the evening and I just wanted a bit of a break from navigating in another language. I finished my current read, The Berry Pickers by Christopher Beha which had been recommended by my Mom from her recent book club meeting. It was quite good. I recommend!

  1. I also enjoyed The Berry Pickers. I love your pictures, and I will admit that I’m a bit sorry that your trip is coming to an end. I know the feeling of missing home and daily life, though.
