January Highlights

The highlight, for sure, was Christmas in January with my family. I’m so happy we were able to get together. The above picture is the closest we got to a group photo. One of my brother/SIL/nephew are missing, as are my parents. We barely got this photo together so I’m happy we have it. The photo series is pretty funny because my nephew on the far right was not having it. And look at my nephew’s bare little belly as he sits on my knee!

This is the youngest nephew and missing from the previous photo. His cuteness should be featured. He’s not going to be the youngest for long since his baby brother is almost here so enjoy it while it lasts, kid.

This is Bella. My family invaded her house and, overall, she was very gracious.

A new discovery to me was Mona of Nanalan’. These little skits give me so much joy. My Instagram feed is fueling the obsession. I highly recommend checking out the sing-along video to Who’s that Wonderful Girl?

I went to a conference in West Palm Beach at the end of the month. It was a good meeting to go in since there is a lot of departmental participation in this particular ENT society. It was also 45 minutes away from my Grandfather so I had a visit with him and his wife. As SMS said, “You went to visit your grandfather on UCSF’s dime?” Which isn’t wrong, but isn’t the complete picture either! 🙂

The above pictures are from a cool tree arch near Hobe Sound beach park. These are poor quality photos, but a super cool tree grove.

Finally, bad news and an anti-highlight. C-bird died. I had been home all afternoon (rare), working on the department website and taking a few Zoom calls. I had looked over a few times and she seemed fine. She ate some seeds, drank some water, and hopped to her playground on top of her cage. But SMS came home and said, “Where’s the bird?” I realized I hadn’t looked over in about an hour. SMS looked behind the cage and said, “She’s down here.” And, after reaching in to pick her up, “She’s dead.” However, mad props to C-bird because she lived a long time, seemed to have a peaceful death, and died behind the wine fridge her cage rested on. I like her style.

  1. I love that you got a trip to see your Grandpa! And I’m so sorry about your bird dying. That is really difficult.

    1. Yes, I was so glad to see my grandfather. It had been awhile- Florida is a big state and some of the smaller airports are a chore to get to from the West Coast! Yes, a little sad about C-bird but she had a long life for a parakeet/budgie.
