NaBloPoMo 2024: Day 3

I am having so much fun reading comments, responding, and then checking out new-to-me blogs! It is a fun blog-o-sphere world out there and I think a month of consistent posting and reading will be a great thing. I suspect that I’ll comment less during the work week, especially since I start call tomorrow (yuck) and the following week has several weekday social events. One event is book club, which I love. We’re reading Intermezzo by Sally Rooney, which is pretty dense. I hope I like it but it’s feeling a little chore-like right now. But it’s early. And I think I like the chess brother character more than the other brother.

Plank bagel and a cream cheese mountain, uneaten

Today, we left Sonoma after another delicious breakfast at Plank. Someone in the back was very generous with the cream cheese. I wish I could somehow have given the excess back and get a $1 off my bagel but that is completely ridiculous. But it felt a little wasteful.

We drove down the 101 to Marin Highlands where we drove to the Golden Gate View Point. It was spectacular. Even though we were high up on the hill, the bridge felt so close and the perspective was amazing. I had been to the pull-off directly off the 101N side and this was so much better. I highly recommend. We parked and walked out to the viewpoint and back. You don’t have to walk out there, but it was short, minimal incline, and well-worth it.

We went to Sausalito for lunch at Fish. It’s not in the main downtown but if you are able to get there, the food is spectacular. And bonus points for eating fresh seafood outside at picnic tables on the dock on a beautiful day.

Now we’re back home. I’m doing some computer work (and blogging) while SMS and his parents are out for a walk. I am a little dismayed that it’s golden hour at 4p. Blergh, I dislike the short days of late Fall/Winter.

  1. What a beautiful day! I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever pulled over to that spot, I don’t think so. Great view of the bridge and the city. And yeah, that’s a lot of cream cheese!

  2. I’ve visited San Francisco a couple of times. It is such a beautfiul city and so much to see. You had a gorgeous day for yuor sightseeing.

  3. Oh, I haven’t been to the Golden Gate Overlook since my family visited in 2022 and I definitely want to go back to Sausalito. I’ll have to remember to check out Fish!

  4. I dislike the short days, but would prefer more light in the morning that the evening, so I am not unhappy about the time change like many seem to be. Of course, not having kids probably helps, as I know it can disrupt their sleep schedule a lot.

I love going to Fred’s Place in Sausalito. It’s a very unassuming breakfast place that is a little off the beaten path, but it has good food!

    1. I am definitely more of a morning person. I think I just like long, long days!
Fred’s Place is now on my list- thanks for the recommendation!

  5. Your pictures are beautiful – including the bagel, YUM! I, too, had trouble getting into Intermezzo, for a book club. It ended up being one of those books that just felt like work to read, but ended up being a fun discussion – I hope yours is, too!
