NaBloPoMo 2024: Day 15

I can’t believe I almost missed this!!

This weekend, I’m off call so SMS and I are going to go hiking! I want to go north of the city and hike in Marin/Mt. Tam. Either the Dipsea Trail or hiking into Muir Woods from higher up on Mt Tam. This allows us to get into Muir Woods without needing to take a shuttle.

This week was busy and I’m behind on my notes. It’s amazing how present I can be in the moment and within hours, have so many details start to become fuzzy. I have an AI scribe that I should really use more. I go back and forth on how much time it saves me. It’s something, but sometimes doesn’t seem that meaningful. But other times, I like it a lot because it can generate after-visit summaries easily. So, that’s nice. I think I’m swinging back to liking it more.

I want to buy Christmas gifts for my niece and nephews. I feel like it all probably just gets loss in the detritus of lots of toys, but I’m trying to commit more to being the cool auntie!

Speaking of family, I have so many weekend trips I want to do. I need to start thinking about how to make it happen. Trips include seeing my parents, brothers, sister, and my own cool auntie in Houston! Of course, everyone is in completely different locations so there’s never a 2-for-1 special when it comes to trips. Unless we coordinate meeting up.

  1. My approach is being the cool auntie too.
I am my nieces godparent. And my sister is my nephews. We have decided to only get our godchild a gift and the other one gets only a tiny something. And I have decided that my godchildren get books every Christmas. So it is more or less easy for me to pick. But I put a lot of thought into what book I gift. My nephew always gets the biggest chocolate Santa I can find and his sister the finest one. This way he feels seen too.

Other than that I hate Christmas shopping. I which I could give everyone a book.

Weekend trips sound fun but it’s a (time) invest if everyone is on a different location.

    1. I love the book idea, especially the thought that you put into it. My Dad thinks a book is a really impersonal gift which I COMPLETELY disagree with!! But I don’t get him books, lol.

    1. Do you have any gift ideas? I’m set for my niece but trying to give nephew gifts this year rather than just cash. Legos for the older ones, I think.
