I have bought my holiday cards! Honestly, this weekend has been full of adulting. I went to the dry cleaners. Whoa. Prices are pricy. I’m really glad I decided to handwash one of my sweaters. I also went to the post office to send in tweezers to be resharpened. Yes, it will take 12-16 weeks but at least I am being sustainable. In the interim, I have bought another pair. From Amazon.
I went to the commissary for groceries. We are set for weekday food and for our Thanksgiving sides contributions. We did supplement with some Farmer’s Market veggies from today. The prices swing wildly. We go to the Apple Lady, who reliably sells for $2.50 a pound. Not a deal per se, but several other vendors sell for $4/lb and don’t look nearly 2x better. Persimmons are out in multitudes, which makes me happy. My second favorite fruit after figs!
So, I’m on the lookout for Black Friday specials. Keeping a low key eye on Amazon. Looking at my favorite buffing soap from Soft Services (no luck yet wait! There is a progressive purchase discount. I will probably get 5% off since the soap bars last forever and I don’t need to restock. 5%. Lame!). Bought my moisturizer from Skin Fix. 25% off, that’s more like it. Their hand cream is the absolute best.
I am also trying to think of presents for my nephews. Cash is always a winner, but I’d rather win for coolest toy of the year. But this seems like I would have stiff competition. Who knew being an aunt was such a competitive blood sport? Speaking of blood, maybe I’ll just buy them all scooters without helmets and be done with it.
You’re on your game!
And I’m more than 2/3 through with the cards, although my little inscriptions are quite short.
So much adulting.
I had to google Persimmons. I have had them but I think this is a fruit that only taste good when really ripe and this is hardly the case in Germany. I stick with apples and oranges.
Holiday cards is a big todo on my list and it is getting more urgent specially the oversees addresses.
Persimmons are amazing. I’ve had them in California and in Japan. It doesn’t strike me as the most European fruit- it seems a little tropical. And yes, they’re only good when ripe. Otherwise the skin has an incredibly astringent, insta-dry mouth creating effect. I’m not sure why. It definitely makes it an unpleasant eating experience!
