It’s that time of year! I know I’m working on nephew gifts, but I wanted to take a break and highlight an easier group of people to shop for…in-laws! They might have everything they need, but do they have everything they want? I don’t think so!

First up, mother-in-law! You could get her a nice collection of olive oils and/or tasty vinegars! Brightland is having a sale between 20-30% off. Another option is a gift-certificate to pay for a month of her favorite app…in this case, Duolingo! Sweet treats are always appreciated like cookies from the Honolulu Cookie Company, no sale link but cute holiday sets. And finally, who doesn’t like socks…and Bombas is having a 20% off sale!

Next up, father-in-law. Does he have a favorite hobby? Mine does: gardening! So get a gift certificate to a local nursery or a membership to the local botanical garden! Does he like drinking? Well, then consider combining his love of his favorite drink (wine, coffee) with a seasonal advent calendar. Every day brings a new adventure!

Finally, don’t forget those siblings-in-law! In my case, they have expensive tastes and hobbies. How can I compete? With thoughtfully chosen gifts that convey my love while sticking to my budget. So that means my first idea of giving them a Porsche track experience in LA is out. Fortunately, their tastes in wine is a lot more within my budget. AND, everyone loves Trader Joe’s so it’s kind of like two presents in one…for $2 $3.49!!! Finally, if you have a person who’s hard to shop for, look back to what they bought you! It’s an easy tell, plus you’ve liked the gift so it’s already fully vetted. In this case, we’re circling back to the perfect gift…socks! Up to 60% off, sitewide!
My husband is so hard to shop for but the hack “look what he bought me” doesn’t work. He always gets what people secretly want (he has powers!) and is always annoyed when I gift things I like to people because I want them. He says I am gift giving for the recipient not for me. Sigh… I need another hack.
