Five on a Friday

Poofy emporium

I worked with an awesome UI/UX designer during a work project. Poofy emporium is a side project of hers and I think it’s the cutest! I’m thinking of buying some of my holiday cards from here. They are cute and not as sarcastic as other cards I have bought in the past, which might be more compatible with holiday spirit?

Mincing mockingbird

But if you are in the mood for sarcastic holiday cards, might I suggest Mincing Mockingbird. Not going to lie, I really want to gatekeep this one since it’s my go-to for amazing cards but since my blog hasn’t blown up yet, I really should share. Also, I want to respect both shops IP, so I feel taking screen captures of the website and providing links to buy covers it. Right?

Fancy advent calendars

That’s it! I’m staying holiday-themed in this post. I’m a fan of fancy advent calendars. That doesn’t mean I always have one every season, but it’s been a fun treat in the past. My favorite was the Reber Mozart Kugal I had two years in a row! That was delightful. I’m not sure if they’re making it this year, though. I’ve also been intrigued by, but never tried, a wine advent calendar. I feel like the wine quality would not be terrific.

Holiday jewelry

I haven’t had any holiday earrings in awhile- maybe it’s time to change that up! I have found a few new-to-me jewelry brands that have beautiful things but I like gold jewelry and, well, the prices are pretty high. Also, I feel that “real” jewelry should be timeless to be worth the cost, so trendier pieces hold less interest for me. Jk, I would totally buy if it if money was no object but that’s not my world but it is the world in…

The have and have-yachts

So much for sticking with a theme. Maybe there will be a holidays chapter. So far, it’s covered luxury prepper hideouts, private concerts and, yes, the mega-yacht world. It’s non-fiction Crazy Rich Asians. I feel that this could be a depressing read in the end, but currently, I’m taking it as dispatches from an alternate universe.

  1. Added The Haves and Have Yachts to my TBR so quickly. The Mincing Mockingbird site is so fun! I am trying to decide if I need a boxed set of the creepy dolls greeting cards. They ARE on sale…

  2. I just started getting advent calendars for myself and it is SO MUCH FUN. Last year, I did a bookish calendar and a beauty one. This year, it’s a murder mystery puzzle and chocolates!

  3. I read the Haves and Have Yachts earlier in the month! It was a 3/5 star book for me; it’s almost like a bunch of essays and some were so interesting and others were a snooze fest (for me). But I think if I’d gone in knowing the structure I would have felt more at liberty to skip and choose which essays I wanted to read? Some of them were incredibly interesting; I’ll be curious to hear what you think!

    1. I finished it today. Yes, I agree it was a collection of essays. My favorite was the chapter on private concerts and Flo-rida. The most important was likely the chapter on Facebook.
