Five things on my Christmas wishlist

Snow Cat in Yoyogi Park, 2014

I’m holding off on the decorating until after Thanksgiving, but I’ve started making gift lists for other people…and me! In terms of my own to-do’s, I really want to come through for the nieces and nephews. One brother’s kids I’m set in theory (just need to buy), but I need to think of what to get for my other brother’s kids and my sister’s kids.

But this is my blog, so on to mmmmeeeeeeee!

Violette FR set

My current fancy make-up brand likes are Violette FR and Sarah Creal. Nice quality, good products, trying to make me feel chic (Violette) and evolving (Sarah Creal) instead of like the olds, lol.

Jewelry

There are some brands that I like, but gold is so expensive and I haven’t found anything that I feel is timeless enough to buy. Over the years, I’ve bought a few really nice rings in India and Thailand, but I do not have a huge jewelry collection. But brands that I like to e-window shop at are Robinson Pelham and Melissa Kaye for high-end jewelry. Sydney Evan has some creative huggies that are slightly dupe-y and marginally less expensive than Robinson Pelham. Finally, Glenn Spiro is where I would buy all of my finest jewelry if my life took a Princess Diaries loop. Heck, even if my life took a King Ralph turn, I figure that I would have money to afford it. Until then, Alexis Bittar (with their frequent sales) will be my go-to for trendier pieces.

Hobonichi Weeks planner

2026 will be the year of melon sorbet! I really like the Weeks planner. Thin but not too small. The most used pages are the monthly layout since I still haven’t transitioned to a digital calendar where I engage with the monthly view. In my personal life, I don’t use digital planners or calendars. In my work life, I need to check in with my Outlook calendar to keep an eye out for sporadic meetings.

Donabe

If anyone in my real life is reading this, I don’t really want this right now. I have too many other projects but maybe in a year or two (and a larger kitchen?), I would like to cook Donabe dishes.

Figs (already bought)

I bought a size down since my current ones feel too big. But Figs are also known to be tight and I’m not looking to be Dr. Hoochie. So, TBD on whether this new size is the correct size.

Wine oil kit

I thought about it, looked a few up, and they seem a little one-time use and silly. I’m over it. I will smell real things. I also have a big bag of essential oils a patient gave to me so I should see what’s in there.

Honorable mention

My parents have an in with Santa and sent out a call for Christmas requests. SMS and I were over at our friends house and were impressed with their Kitchen Aid mixer attachment for pasta making. So, TBD! I might be on the naughty list but if not, 2026 will be the year of fresh pasta!

  1. I love a good wishlist and everyone should have one! I’ll have to take a look at the Hobonichi planners as a planner is definitely on my wishlist as well.

    1. I got mine back in 2011 or so. It seemed like every blogger had one and I was influenced (even though I don’t think that was a verb back then). The woman I thought was super cool had a hot pink one (cranberry), which I still think would have been neat but I’m glad I have my blue one.

  2. I am on the hunt for the perfect 2026 planner, so I’m going to look at the Hobonichi. I know that’s a cult favorite!

On my wish list is a new reading chair, a new Kindle, and a fun “how many books I’ve read this year” sign for my bookshelves.

    1. I love your wishlist. And I mentioned it above, but theshubox.com is a great resource for all things planning. She has a book coming out- Best Laid Plans
