Ode to the potato

By itself, a drab, dirt-covered little thing. In a competition, any magazine will say a truffle wears it better in the dirty drab department.

And yet, stir in some milk, salt, pepper, butter, and/or cheese in various (heavy) proportions and you get such deliciousness. Heavenly abundance. Yum!

I have made a Shepard’s pie tonight to cook for tomorrow’s dinner. Tasting the potatoes has led me to express my extreme fandom. Which will have a double celebration this week on Thanksgiving, the most delicious of holidays! In no small part due to…potatoes!!

  1. I’m excited to try a new potato recipe this year for Thanksgiving – Ina Garten’s make ahead goat cheese mashed potatoes. I will make them tomorrow, then pop them in the oven at my in-laws house. SO EASY. They sound amazing, with potatoes (of course), herb garlic goat cheese, butter, cream, and sour cream. WOW.
