Thanksgiving Friday

These long holiday weekends can be so lazy! SMS had a pleasant surprise when he realized he had the day off today. He didn’t know. When I wrote to a mutual friend, she couldn’t believe it was possible since she’s been looking forward to the long weekend for weeks. SMS just pays attention to different things!

We both did some light computer work this morning, followed by some relaxation time. I finished Frozen River today, which means I completed all three of the books that were limiting my mega-refresh of my Kindle library. I’ve had a run of decent but not great books lately. I keep a list in my planner. I’m rather liberal with 4 stars and stingy with 5s. I’ve had a run of 4s lately. I am starting Culpability, which I’m excited about. I like the author’s prior works and the plot sounds up my alley.

We went for a hike at Arastradero Preserve. This is a favorite biking spot for SMS, but we’ve been hiking here a few times. It’s not super challenging, but it’s green and beautiful. It was particularly pretty during golden hour. So, we got a bit of physical activity in!

For dinner, I made little meat pies with leftover pie crust dough and some beef that had been in the fridge and needed cooking! I used a NYTimes beef empanada recipe that I modified, but worked well. I really like the beef/hard-boiled egg/green olive/potato mix. It’s really delicious. It would have been better with onion, but we were out.
