SMS and I have been to Guerneville a few times. I think our first time sort of left us with an “ehhh” impression that has been hard to shake since. It’s not the most walkable place. It’s unincorporated so although there are cool places to go, there are few sidewalks and it just feels a little disjointed. When we went the first time, it was just the two of us and we stayed at Boon Hotel. We went to Armstrong National Forest, which is very impressive.
We’ve been back twice: once with his parents and once with our friends when the rented a house on the Russian River. We’re going back twice in the next two months: Thanksgiving and after Christmas. I’m warming up to the place. SMS still likes other places in Sonoma better, which I totally get. Let’s see how we feel by the end of 2024.
I’ve been wine tasting there, but I think that’s about it. Nope, I lied, we went to Geyserville. I guess I need to check Guerneville out, I love the big trees!
If the trees are any indication of this place I love it. We don’t have these kind of trees in Europe. At least I do not think so.
I looked this up! Native to Central and Pacific US Coast, but have been planted elsewhere. In Europe, Google says Italy, Portugal, UK. I have not verified.
